On 2012 May 16th the “Pride of Wales”- Joe Calzaghe and opponent Ruey Ray Ray- “The Sex Symbol of Cambridge” had their pre-fight stare-down at the Cambridge Union Society Debating Chamber. The tension in the venue could have been cut with a nipple considering how cold it had been for the spring of 2012 in the UK.

The two fighters do not like each other. Ruey Ray Ray has clearly no respect for the undefeated Champion. He said to the “Pride of Wales”, “Unlike Bernard Hopkins, I ain’t ever gonna let a man of your kind beat me! You mortal human are no match for me”. Ruey Ray Ray clearly thinks he is beyond human, a demigod of some sort, perhaps like Thor. Joe Calzaghe remained silent but stared into the beautiful face of “The Sex Symbol of Cambridge” as if he was about to smack it at any second.

Considered by many as the greatest fighter to ever come out of the United Kingdom, future hall of famer Joe Calzaghe is one of the handful of notable world boxing champions to have retired undefeated. With his incredible hand speed and the heart of a Welsh dragon, Calzaghe managed to dominate his opponents for over 15 years.




It is unclear as to why Calzaghe decided to come out of his 3-year retirement to fight the very dangerous Ruey Ray Ray. Some suspect that it was the sight of the “Sex Symbol”’s sexiness and the cockniness that goes along with it which gave Calzaghe the urge to want to rearrange that beautiful face.

Ruey Ray Ray, currently fighting out of Cambridge, United Kingdom, is an undefeated fighter. Originally from Taipei, Taiwan, he grew up in British Columbia, Canada, and was then educated in Tokyo, Japan. So the nickname “Sex Symbol of Cambridge” does not really do him justice as he is more of an international sex symbol rather than just a small medieval town phenomenon. However he is an extremely humble man despite his overwhelming sex appeal.


Ruey Ray Ray is considered a dangerous opponent as nothing is known about him therefore it is better to consider him dangerous rather than harmless. However, we do know that he is undefeated. Although it is also known that he has never fought as a professional. It is this fighter’s confidence that really puts doubt in those who firmly believe that he will get his ass whooped by the legendary Joe Calzaghe; however little this doubt may be.


“Somebody’s O, has got to GO”. As Floyd Mayweather Jr. refuses to stop ducking Filipino sensation Manny Pacquiao, this mega fight between “The Pride of Wales” and “The Sex Symbol of Cambridge” may just be the magic we need to save the sport of boxing.
